Leader personnel conducted an environmental assessment/investigation at a 70-acre portion of the Cattaraugus Economic Development Zone. The purpose of this study was to identify environmental concerns in this former rail yard area prior to site development. The environmental assessment included a Phase I regulatory/historical review and site reconnaissance followed by a Phase II study involving test boring/monitoring wells and sampling of soil, sediments, surface water, and ground water. An evaluation of soil clean-up levels and a risk assessment were performed as part of this study. The site has recently been developed into a commercial/industrial park.
